Biography:

From a very young age, Suzanne Byanca Charité, born in 2001 in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, has had a big passion for music and theater. She first discovered this love through dancing, which she did from the age of three . Dancing developed into music theater, and for a long time Suzanne aspired to be a music theater performer.

Besides dancing throughout most of her childhood and following musical theatre classes (CKC Zoetermeer, NME Foundation Den Haag), Suzanne developed herself musically with piano lessons from the age of seven. She also followed music as an exam subject at high school, where she learned the base of theory.

In 2019 Suzanne had her first individual vocal lesson with Maurits Draaijer at the age of 18. The lessons were firstly focused on singing musical theatre repertoire, but the standard classical repertoire that were also explored in these lessons made Suzanne find a new passion for classical music and the classical vocal technique.

With the help of Maurits, Suzanne got accepted to the prebachelor of music theater at Codarts Rotterdam in 2020, which she combined with a Bachelor in History at the University of Leiden. While doing this prebachelor, Suzanne started to gravitate more towards the classical singing technique and decided to audition at Fontys Academy of the Arts (Conservatorium Tilburg), which she got accepted in in 2021. She follows lessons with Margriet van Reisen and Sinan Vural. She has also completed numerous masterclasses with Maarten Koningsberger, Claron McFadden, Stefano Patarino and Elsina Jansen.

Suzanne has a natural interest in opera repertoire, for it combines music with theater. She has performed several roles across varying musical styles, like Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas, Ascanio in Ascanio in Alba, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro and most recently Lulu in a like-named newly composed opera production by Corina van Eijk. Besides opera, Suzanne has performed with several ensembles on soloistic work, as well as duets.

In addition to her soloistic work, she participated in numerous and diverse choir projects; from Tippet's 'A Child of our time' led by Louis Buskens to 'Lord of the Rings- Two Towers in concert' with Shih-Hung Young, among others. Recently, she starred in the 2025 production of Meesters&Gezellen (Trisagion) with Daniel Reuss and 'Midsummer Nightmare' by Holland Opera.

With an unwavering passion for music spanning a diverse range of genres, Suzanne aspires to make classical music more accessible to a wider audience. She firmly believes that the beauty of music should be experienced by everyone, regardless of background or familiarity with the genre.
